At Adil's, we caught up for a bit before setting up an agenda for our extended meeting, with points we wanted to cover before we finally departed.

Met Gita, Francesco and Natasha again, as well as Zaki and Wai (friend of Gitas), who actually happened to be Zakis ex-schoolmate from Dulwich! What a coincidence!
So we had dinner at Four seasons on Bayswater road, after queueing for like 40 minutes, but it was good. very good food actually.
Zaki came all decorated with a ridiculously funny moustache, re-earning him his old nickname 'Moustacha'. After not having seen him for a longer period of time, it was a pleasant shock to see that something had changed about him. Even though he claims that it is a bet...
Seeing Francesco again was great! I've always enjoyed his company and interesting conversations, not only because he's a diplomat's child and therefore well travelled, but also because he's got interesting points of view on many issues. I still remember and often quote my favourite of his statements, which he made when we were debating the UK and other education systems with Laura (Nottingham) back in PGP, Singapore. Refusing to accept that learning something at school even though she does not need it for her job, Francesco replied to Laura, in a last attempt to bring her to reason: 'It's education. You die less stupid!'. Priceless!
Gita is good as ever, happy clappy with a northern accent. Was great to see her again, and oh my go, she's such a monkey!

Actually this is the first time I've ever written any kind of 'blog', since I usually abhor the reams of drivel that people publish on the internet about their humdrum lives. I guess I shouldn't knock it till I've tried it, so I shall do my best to make these entries as interesting and entertaining as possible. But then I am an engineer which is definitely no guarantee of creative writing prowess. You be the judge.
Over and out for now, in 10 hours I'll be at my first stop, New York! Time to find out what the USA is really like. I hope the flight had some good movies...

Basically, the idea is to get together a bunch of internet-related entrepreneurs and wannabes, to conceive, plan and implement an internet startup in one weekend. That's right, some 56 hours (i think we had).
Goal is to obviousely produce some company that is worth billion$ of Pounds, but unfortuately, that has never happened.
I just thought attending such an event would be very fruitful both from a meeting people as well as from a getting to know methodology and startup culture point of view.
In hindsight, i must say, that it was a great experience, but the lack of structure or leadership combined with the unclear concept of our startup (we decided on an ethical consumer portal named aLittleBitBetter.co.uk to help its users make their consumption, and thus live, a little bit better) were a bit of a hindrance.
I surely learned a lot of new and interesting things, especially regarding the online business of advertising, which will surely provide useful in the future.
But it was definatly great to see a bunch of motivated people get together to 'start something', which is not too different from what nick and me are trying to do! And did i mention that i flew in from berlin, just for this event? I did.
check out www.alittlebitbetter.co.uk as well as www.startupweekend.com for more info.
Greetings to all fellow SWLers, if you read this!
