Der Weg ist das Ziel - a German proverb losely translated to 'The Journey is the Destination'

Nick has had minor difficulties at the airport, and tight security would not let him get on the flight or leave the UK. He forgot his passport. Luckily, he had his iPhone, and could respond very quickly on the spot, arranging a special next day delivery as well as a cheap motel to stay. Now, with a day's delay, Nick will get to Berlin on Thu 13. Dec 07, 16h.

Day 1 - Dinner and Coding

I arrived in the afternoon to be driven through south Berlin towards the centre by Anthony. We ate at his father's restaurant - duck and chicken - very good!

Afterwards we took a walk back to Anthony's place, through the festive spirit and lights of central Berlin. Upon arrival, I got settled in the corner of Anthony's room and got to work.

Luckily, being only 7pm, we had more than half the day remaining for work (our schedule starts at around 1pm and finishes at 5am).

I spent most of my time post-1am talking to Andrea on msn but that's another story for another day.

Day 2 - Core Features

I spent most of the afternoon polishing off some bugs, and at 10pm we re-convened to start the 'afternoon' session - an all encompassing discussion of features we would to incorporate in this new travel website.

The first thing we did was to brainstorm a bit about what we wanted to achieve. After defining what user experience we imagine our first iteration to offer, we wrote all the features we could think of on the 'white board' (Anthony's mirrored cupboards).

Tomorrow we organise them..

After an intense session during which we looked at the long term future and eventual aim of the site, we went for a bit of a walk around Berlin, at 2am. A lot of cafes were still open, and we picked up a delicious donor kabab from a street stall.
